Seven years ago at this time I was fasting and praying about what God wanted from my life. I was in a job that I knew He did not intend for me to keep. On faith, I quit that job, trusting Him to tell me exactly what He wanted from me. On May 1, 2004 Healthcare Solutions – A Christian Ministry was birthed. On God’s very specific direction, I was called to counsel, educate, consult and manage healthcare for the elderly and disabled. His gifting to me is the ability and knowledge to swim through and navigate healthcare and benefits for the needy and disabled. God was and has always been very specific that I am not to charge for what I do. Over the last seven years, many people have had a hard time understanding that. But, I have never wavered from that very important aspect of this ministry. Shortly after I began Healthcare Solutions – A Christian Ministry, I was offered a job by a local non-profit. They offered a nice salary and benefit package for me to work for them and do just what I am doing. I know it was a test for me to stand firm in God’s direction for this ministry. Often, people will tell me I need to charge for what I do.
Over the years I have had clients who have been in a position to donate. Some have donated fairly according to their means. Others maybe not so fairly based on how much I did for them. However, I put that in God’s hands. It is not my job to tell someone how much to donate. When the subject comes up I tell each one that they have to determine in their heart what to give. It has amazed me on many occasions how those who have the most meager means will donate much more than those with abundant means. I am often reminded of the widow who gave everything she had – Jesus pointed out that what she gave meant so much more than those who give with a stingy/greedy heart. I have also refused to accept donations from people who I know really could not afford.
Many of you have benefited from my services – either directly or through my serving a family member, friend, co-worker, etc. Many of you have been very generous. Some of you have donated just because you see the value and need for a ministry such as this. Many of you are in a position to give – but you do not. This ministry cannot exist without monthly donations to sustain the work that is desperately needed.
I continue to take people to the doctor – working as a translator of sorts helping the patient to better understand their condition and what they need to do at home. I continue to help many people apply for benefits – disability, VA, Medicaid, Medicare, etc.
If I were a missionary serving somewhere overseas I dare say that many would have a different attitude about contributions. I am here to tell you that what I do is just as important to the kingdom of God as any overseas missionary. You do not have to go overseas to find people that need to know and experience the love of Christ in their lives. I do that every day. I ask that you please consider a donation to this ministry – either one time, or monthly. Please pray that the Lord would reveal to you His will in this area. If you know others who have a heart for ministry and the ability to donate, please forward this to them.
I pray that “the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation of the knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power.” Ephesians 1:17-19
